I have been searching in vain for well over a year now for a group to join that homeschools without strings. No religious commitment, no participation requirements, no specific learning style... No rules. That's why I've started Seattle Homeschoolers for the Sake of Homeschooling. Just parents getting together with kids who are home schooled. I know how hard it can be to be a homeschooling parent, and how busy it is. I also know everyone does it a little different. I think that's fine. And I thi …

This group seeks to open up a space for people to talk, on both conceptual and personal levels, about gender, particularly with concern for feminist issues; this has historically spilled over into discussion of other forms of marginalization and privilege. We seek to explore ideas about feminism, gender, sexual identity, race, and class, bringing in theoretical ideas, but more pertinently, to how we experience these ideas in our lives personally. We are here to change our own awareness and the …

Who Is TCAD Seattle? On May 23, Muhammad Yunus spoke at Seattle Town Hall and showed a trailer for a inspirational documentary he's in, called "To Catch A Dollar," due out in September. Several attendees talked with Yunus, Gayle Ferraro, the film maker, and Kathleen Wells, the project director from Grameen Research. When we asked if we could help, they said yes. This volunteer group was formed in the days that followed, with a short term objective of building support for promotion of the movi …

The Native Plant Salvage Alliance (NPSA) collaborates to preserve, restore and teach about native flora in Tacoma and Pierce County, Washington. The NPSA was originally created in 2003 by volunteers to support citizen plantings and habitat restoration projects occurring throughout the Puget Sound basin. The NPSA orchestrates the sweat equity of volunteers to dig for beneficial plants before bulldozers arrive for development. Along the way volunteers learn to identify and understand the many val …

Alternate names for the group are "Women's Space" or “Wednesday Women” (as on the meeting room door sign—for the sake of anonymity). Together we graw in AWE: Authenticity, Wholeness, Empowerment. A woman who …

The Bellingham Artistic Christians Network will be comprised of artistically talented Christians (and their fans, patrons and supporters). It will be for people who strongly desire to empower one another to make the most of their talents for the sake of the kingdom of God. Starting this local group is the next phase in a project on which I began working more than 10 years ago. The culmination of the project, I hope, will be the creation of a rural residential arts colony specifically for Christi …

Hi to everyone! My name is Tanya. I'm trying to organize the support group for parents and their brightest children, K-12, who are somewhere on autism spectrum, because I know what you are going through and how you feel. My story: I have two boys, one of them is an Asperger. His name is George, he is 11 yo. We've been going circles for 4 years before my son was finally diagnosed last December. Since then.... we are on our own. Unfortunately, Snohomish County lacks of professional specialized hel …

This is not just another "entrepreneur" meetup. We are not about meeting for the sake of meeting. We are not about meeting to promote sponsors or to create business development opportunities for service providers. We are fed up with stale startup leadership and frustrated with the quality and content of local, well-intentioned startup organizations and groups. We want to agitate the creation of a group that will focus on moving our local startup community forward by focusing entirely on the e …
